Joe holds degrees in music performance and music education from Slippery Rock University as well as a master’s degree in music from Duquesne University. Joe is one of the most in demand and busy trumpet players in the Pittsburgh area.

 Joe keeps busy performing with legendary talents such as Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra Jr., Franki Valley, Bernedette Peters, The Four Tops, Little Anthony and the Imperials, amongst others and performs regularly with the Temptations (and the other Joe Herndon who is the Temptations bass singer)

Locally Joe performs regularly with the Pittsburgh Broadway Series Orchestra, Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, Pittsburgh Musical Theater, and Pittsburgh Public in a musical theater vein.  

Joe is very passionate about the salsa band he leads.  Azúcar is Western Pennsylvania's most in demand and enegertic salsa band.  They play regularly at clubs and private venues in the Pittsburgh and surrounding areas.  In addition to Azúcar Joe is also the co-leader of Resounding Brass.  Resounding Brass is a brass group that ranges from solo trumpet to brass quintet and provides everything from ceremonial grand entrances at weddings and parties to liturgical music at places of worship.

In addition to his own projects Joe can be found performing regularly with the Billy Price Band, Latshaw Productions Swing City Orchestra, Bo Wagner’s “Let’s be Frank” show, the Three Rivers Jazz Orchestra, and many touring national acts that pass through the region.
